Eight weatherproof IT-300TW horn speakers deliver the required sound pressure level on…

Sport in the north

Eight outfield players and two goalkeepers on motorcycles, a 40 cm ball in front of them — the game can begin. Across four quarters of 20 minutes each, the two teams give each other no quarter and offer spectators a match like no other. What sounds to some like an action film script has long been reality at MSC Jarmen in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. The club specialises in motoball, plays in the northern group of the motoball Bundesliga and welcomes more than 400 spectators to home matches.

Crowned with success

Motoball has long been a rather popular sport in the region and is considered, among other things, the fastest team sport in the world. Outfield players ride 250 cc special motorcycles and battle for victory in fast-paced duels on asphalt, paved or gravel pitches. Compared with football, motoball matches are usually very high-scoring.

Requirement

After the playing surface was asphalted in 2015, the sports ground of Motoballsportclub Jarmen was to be upgraded further. To improve training and competition conditions, new floodlighting was already being planned, and a weatherproof sound system was to be added as well. High-quality speech reproduction was essential for the new audio system: new, versatile connection options for microphones were to ensure that the club no longer has to fall back on a mobile sound system.

Solution

Eight weatherproof IT-300TW horn speakers deliver the required sound pressure level on and beside the pitch. The music horns are installed on the floodlight masts complete with mast brackets. Their 2-way design with a dynamic cone bass-mid driver and a horn tweeter ensures balanced coverage of the pitch and the spectator areas. They are driven by the PA-924 PA mono mixing amplifier with 1 x 240 watts rated power.

A CD-112/BT CD and MP3 player handles music playback. Among other things the player supports continuous playback, random playback and MP3 playback from USB or SD/MMC. Its integrated Bluetooth receiver also allows laptops, smartphones or tablets to be connected wirelessly.

The wired PDM-302 desktop microphone is available for announcements. For more freedom of movement there is the TXS-900HT handheld microphone, paired with the TXS-900 multi-frequency receiver unit. The unit uses true diversity technology and works in the two licence-free frequency ranges 823–832 MHz and 863–865 MHz. Receiver and transmitter are synchronised by radio, quickly and easily at the push of a button. Simple configuration, automatic frequency search, interference-free transmission and dependability over distance make this wireless system the ideal companion during matches.

After the enforced break caused by Covid, the sound system was finally able to go into live service in July 2021.
