For many start-ups, small businesses and freelancers, co-working is the working model of the future. This form of renting workspace responds to the new needs of the creative industries and to the changed conditions of modern ways of working.
The co-working areas of Avenue HQ, founded in Liverpool (UK) in 2016, are more than just temporary workspaces. At Avenue HQ in Leeds, a recently opened branch, the emphasis is not only on a professional, modern infrastructure but also on exchange and networking among the co-workers: at Avenue HQ’s newest location the growing business scene has more than 200 co-working places and 35 offices of varying size at its disposal. With 3,252 m2 spread across five floors, the building on East Parade is the company’s largest site to date. Alongside hot desks, private offices, meeting and event rooms, the building has a rooftop bar open all day in one of the most popular areas of Leeds. Further spaces include a theatre and a restaurant — open to tenants and to the public alike.

For the newest site in Leeds, MONACOR developed a multi-zone solution comprising both unobtrusive flush-mount ceiling speakers for indoors and weatherproof, IP-certified outdoor speaker systems. Locally installed wall modules allow different music programmes to be played in selected areas.
Solution
The demands on the system were varied:
Eight zones were required in total, each connected to a matching wall module for remote control. For this multiroom application the choice fell on the 8 x 8 audio matrix mixer ARM-880, remote-controlled via the ARM-880WP2 control panels: this extremely flexible solution can distribute up to 8 different audio sources across just as many output zones. A CD-112RDS/BT CD and MP3 player supplies the various areas with music.
The speaker systems used consist of the unobtrusive flush-mount ceiling speakers EDL-8 and EDL-62HQ as well as the 2-way speakers WALL-06T/WS. High sound quality and speech intelligibility together with flexible mounting options make the wall speakers the perfect solution for the most varied applications with speech and/or music reproduction. Outdoors, the two IP65-certified models ESP-230 and ESP-250 are used.
The power amplifiers PA-2240 (2 x 240 W) and PA-4120 (4 x 120 W) provide ample power for the connected speaker series and enough headroom for the system to work efficiently in every area.
