The gyms are accessible around the clock and equipped with industry-standard fitness machines for cardiovascular training and muscle building. There are also additional services not found in comparable gyms, plus a safe and secure environment.
Requirement
Scion Communications needed a rugged, dependable audio system suitable for 24-hour operation. To meet the high demands on the audio system required, Scion Communications contacted MONACOR UK’s project management.
What was required was a multi-zone system that convinces especially in the bass and lower mids while allowing each functional area to be covered individually.
Solution
Gym area
A MONACOR PA-12040 matrix zone amplifier was used to control four independent zones in the gym area, allowing the customer to play different styles of music in different areas. The attractively designed ESP-232/SW speakers were used in the gym area and offer an excellent frequency response as well as several 100 V power taps for balanced levels throughout.
Virtual fitness room
For this area a system was designed to produce a punchy, energetic sound for the virtual fitness classes held there. The low-impedance 2-way speakers PAB-88/SW were used for the purpose; they work perfectly with low ceilings and hold their own against the background noise made by the other participants as they follow the instructions of the virtual trainer on the video wall. The PAB-88/SW speakers are driven by the energy-efficient STA-300D, which provides ample power at low power consumption — a basic requirement in a 24-hour gym.
